OH BOY 10 weeks old! At this age, they're curious, playful, and starting to learn about the world around them. They have started teething, so we are providing appropriate chew toys!
They're also at a crucial stage for socialization and training. We start official classes next week! It's a great time to start basic obedience training and socialization exercises. Positive reinforcement techniques work wonders with these intelligent and eager-to-learn pups.
Also, don't forget about regular vet check-ups, vaccinations, and a proper diet to support their growth. Everyone got a clean bill of health at this weeks appointment!

Puppy Playtime
Five Weeks Old
- German Shepherd puppies grow rapidly during their first few months of life.
- German Shepherd puppies are still quite small at this age.
- Your puppy's eyes and ears are fully open by 5 weeks, and they will be more active and aware of their surroundings.
- Puppies at 5 weeks are becoming more coordinated and mobile. They will be able to stand, walk, and play with their littermates.
- They have also start attempting to eat solid food alongside their soft food. This is a critical period for socialization.
- Puppies should be exposed to various stimuli, people, and other animals to help them develop good social skills.
- At this age, you can begin very basic training. Simple commands like "sit" and "come" can be introduced, but keep training sessions short and positive.
- Positive reinforcement is the most effective way to train puppies.
Four Weeks Old
This week the adorable German Shepherd puppies are eating soft loaf food and nursing less and less. Socialization is a critical part of a puppy's development. Our puppies had their first interactions with various people this week outside of our family! This helps them become well-adjusted adults. I also started introducing basic training commands and practices, such as potty training and crate training. Keep training sessions short and positive, focusing on rewards and positive reinforcement. Being consistent is the main concept, pats and attention for when they respond the way I want them too and using key words like here, come, kennel up are all basics for continued training. While a 4-week-old puppy is still quite young, they can engage in short, gentle play sessions to help with their physical and mental development.
3.5 Weeks Old ~ OUR FIRST BATH
Giving a puppy their first bath can be a fun and bonding experience, but it's important to approach it with care and patience. Make sure you have all the necessary supplies ready before you start. You'll need puppy shampoo (never use human shampoo)! Remember that puppies may not enjoy their first bath, so patience and gentleness are key. Over time, they may become more accustomed to the process and even start to enjoy it. Bathing frequency depends on your puppy's breed and lifestyle, but in general, it's not necessary to bathe them too frequently, as it can strip their coat of natural oils. Regular brushing and spot cleaning can help keep them clean between baths.
Three Weeks Old
A 3-week-old German Shepherd puppy is still in the early stages of development and is incredibly adorable. At this age, they are just beginning to open their eyes and explore the world around them. German Shepherd puppies are relatively small at this age, typically weighing around 2 to 4 pounds. They have a soft and fluffy coat, which is usually short and dense. Their ears are typically floppy at this age, and they will eventually begin to stand up as the puppy grows older. 3-week-old German Shepherd puppies are still very dependent on their mother for nourishment and care. They are not yet mobile but may start attempting to crawl or wobble around a little. They spend most of their time sleeping, feeding, and cuddling with their littermates. Puppy teeth, also known as baby or milk teeth, are starting to emerge, but they won't be fully developed until several weeks later. As they continue to grow and develop, they will become more active, curious, and playful in the coming weeks.
Two Weeks Old
A two-week-old German Shepherd puppy is an adorable and fragile creature, just beginning its journey in the world. At this age, German Shepherd puppies are still heavily dependent on their mother for nourishment, warmth, and care. German Shepherd puppies are quite small at two weeks of age, typically weighing around 1 to 2 pounds. Two-week-old German Shepherd puppies are not very active. They spend most of their time sleeping, nursing, and cuddling with their littermates and mother. This past weekend their eyes began to open and they still have limited sight and rely on the sense of smell to guide them and they are beginning to scooch around to get closer to each other and mom Hessia.
