What is Limited Registration?
Limited Registration means that the dog is registered but no litters produced by that dog are eligible for registration.
Chapter 3, Section 4A of the AKC's Rules Applying to Registration and Discipline states the following: "Limited Registration may be requested for a dog when application for individual registration of the dog is submitted, provided the application, together with a request for such limitation, is filed by the owner(s) of the litter at birth”.
No offspring of a dog for which Limited Registration has been granted is eligible for registration. Each registration certificate for such dog shall carry notice of the limitation, and the limitation shall continue, regardless of any change of ownership.
A dog registered with an AKC Limited Registration shall be ineligible to be entered in a breed competition in a licensed or member dog show. It is eligible, however, to be entered in any other licensed or member event. These events include: Obedience, Tracking, Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Herding, Lure Coursing, Agility and Earth dog.
Limited Registration is determined by the litter owner(s). The litter owner(s) check the Limited box on the AKC Dog Registration Application.
Limited Registration certificates are white with an orange border; the Full Registration certificate is white with a purple border.

What are the differences between a male and female German Shepherd?
This is a common question for many families. The general differences are males tend to be larger in both weight and size than females. Male dogs will bond easier with a female owner and females tend to bond easier with a male owner. Male German Shepherds can be more aggressive than females, but both can be socialized and trained. |
Are all German Shepherds aggressive?
The German Shepherd dog is bred for protection and companionship and aggression in some form is part of their DNA. It is their instinct to be the enforcer and protector. A temperament test during a puppies early weeks will give a clue of the level of aggression that puppy may have. The responsible owner will train and socialize their German Shepherd puppy to re-enforce this instinct or to subdue it. German Shepherd puppies need more socialization and for a longer period of time than those of other breeds. As a responsible dog owner you can minimize your puppies aggression to strangers, and small animals by reinforcing socialization and good manners. Socialization and training does not stop when the puppy completes puppy classes! This is an ongoing skill you must practice with them their whole lives.

Why does my dog drink from the toilet?
Dogs that like to drink from the toilet do so because they like fresh, running water more than the stagnant water in their dish, and toilets are frequently flushed to refresh the water!!! |
